Does anyone have any recommendations for self contained, battery operated nav lights? I only want something to keep in a drybag incase I get caught out as it starts to go dark. So I don't want something permanently mounted or connected to main starter battery as they will not be used regularly, if at all.
I have seen these, which look like they might get me by if required:
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Re: Removable nav lights
Those lights are an attractive price, but a couple of things put me off. Firstly they are powered by lithium button cells. This probably makes them nice and compact, but I'd rather take the size and weight penalty to run a light on more readily available AAA batteries. Secondly they're unlikely to fit in with the angle of visibility requirements for nav lights.bbutty wrote: ↑02 May 2021, 14:20Does anyone have any recommendations for self contained, battery operated nav lights? You may be better off with a single white light visible from 360. That's all you need with vessels under 7m.

I knew I was likely to be running after dark on the Thames so I shelled out for the Navisafe dinghy kit that includes a tri-coloured LED and a pole mounted all round white lamp. I've used them a few times on the river, but wouldn't have said I've got my money's worth yet
I've used the Navisafe mounts for Gopro cameras more often than lights. I've also got a Gopro mount on my engine cowl and I've used that to attach the white light when that's all I've been carrying and time got away from me.
I would definitely recommend the Navisafe lights, but they aren't particularly cheap. Lots of different combos available and it looks like the kit has changed slightly since I got it. Mine came in a hard plastic case. http://www.navisafe.com/project/40-navi ... -complete/
