Bravo Pump Electrical Fault Fix - Something to Check

Post by mm289 » 19 Aug 2020, 12:09

Hiya,

I have found our Bravo pump to be really reliable, bought it second hand with the boat and no probs at all even though it must be 5+ years old.

When I was unpacking it on our Scotland trip a few weeks back though I noticed some damage to the power cable so thought I would investigate further. What I found is that the cable where it goes into the pump had split its plastic sheathing on both +ve and -ve cables. Probably just due to constant flexing as this is fed from the pump through a slot in the carry bag to a separate compartment where the cable is stored.

This was the state of the cable, obviously if they had touched it would have blown the fuse on my battery pack which would have been inconvenient but if you were using with a non fused setup could be a bit dangerous. :no

So removed the cables and applied a few lengths of heat shrink to re-insulate and then reinstalled.

Easy enough job, but for those of you with Bravo pumps might just be worth occasionally checking this area for wear.

Cheers, :thumbsup

Paul.
