Seats for 5m humber sib
I have a 5m humber sib which does not come with any kind of seats I am happy to sit on the tube to control the outboard but I wouldn't want my daughter sat on the tubes and she isn't comfy sat on the floor so I wanted to fit some seats for my daughter and the other half to sit on I was going to get the patches that are glued on to the tubes that have webbing attached for the seat hooks to fit into but I can only find them in the pale grey colour I would have liked them in black or orange but can't fid them anywhere does anyone know where I can get them from or have any other ideas for them to sit on safely
Thanks colin

Re: Seats for 5m humber sib
I had a look on the web sites I know.. but they are all either grey or white..so cant help with that
However they are only PVC circles with some webbing between them..so if I wanted to colour coordinate.. I would get some orange PVC.. and black webbing..both easy to get and cut my own disks attached to webbing...not sure if you want to try that though..but its the only solution I can think of. Two or three PVC disks glued together.. to give strength..with a slot cut for webbing ..and the webbing stitched to some pvc glued between the disks.. would be easy enough to make ?
Failing that.. a grey bought one with some orange pvc glued on top of the grey disks wouldn't look too shabby ?

Re: Seats for 5m humber sib
Thanks the gurnard I did think about both of your suggestions before and I bought some of the material that seat belts are made out of because I thought that would be very strong and I already have plenty of hypalon material for them in orange and black so I could have a go at making some will just have to get the missus to get the see g machine out like you said the other option would be to buy some grey ones and cover them in orange or black hypalon the only downside would be that I would have to buy some 2 part pvc glue because the patches are made from pvc and the 2 part hypalon glue won't stick to the pvc so I would have to prime the back of the patches first

Re: Seats for 5m humber sib
Just keep it all Hypalon for the fixture and the seatbelt webbing that you have Captain Cod ..i there is nothing to them when you see them not glued to a boat
Here is an advert for some on amazon for sale in the US .. it has detailed pictures down the side of the advert that shows how they are constructed..sounds like you have all the materials to hand too.

Good luck whichever way you choose

Re: Seats for 5m humber sib
Im sure you know this ...but I will add..they don’t need to be strong enough to support the weight of the passengers.. as they are glued onto the tubes near the top surface..so the tubes take the weight .. the fixture really only holds the seat in place.
For info ..I made the front seat for mine from a strip of pine shelving from B & Q ..and glued a smaller piece strip wood under it at the front for strength. I sometimes have an 18 stone weight mate plus his son sat on it and its been fine. You can get the seat clips from places like this web site..its only an example as I have not used that site before. You can buy complete seat “kits “ from this site too.. but you will pay big bucks for a “plank” from them.
http://www.ibsparts.co.uk/seats/seat-sp ... -grey.html
Position of Mecury Quicksilver Seat mounts ..shown in photo...near the top of the tube..the plastic seat holder clip.. shown in the attached link above .. sets the angle of how far round the tube from top that they sit..as its bottom angled edge is flush with the tube..if that makes sense.
I'm off to sleep again so will leave you in peace now

Re: Seats for 5m humber sib
Please feel free to tell me if you think anything is wrong as I would rather get it right at this stage than find out it isn't right once it is glued on the sib
