God only knows if this comment is going to make any sense at all :Confused
The 'slits' in the patches need to be a very tight fit :!:
I'd thread the circular patches onto the webbing (left and Right) then thread the main patch onto the webbing (left and right) then fold over the webbing and stitch it so it's double its thickness preventing it being pulled through the patch
Then prepare the areas ready for glueing and ensure the webbing is stretched once the glue sets ie, tubes semi deflated (sort of squishy, not flat) :|
I just knew this'll be 'lost in translation' :shame coz it reads like gobbledegook I'm sure :thud

Thanks Paul the slits in the main patch are a snug fit I was hoping that once I have stiched the webbing to the circular patches and then glued them to back of the main patch and then the whole lot glued to the tube it would be fine when you say fold the webbing over so it is double the thickness do you mean at the back of the main patch whee it is stiched onto the circular patches ?

Looks fine to me capain cod ;-)

If you have not glued or stitched anything yet.. try making it from five pieces of Hypalon.. four disks ..and one long piece..like in this sketch...it will give extra strength and hide the stitches too
Disks.jpg
That way you put your webbing through the top disk slot..(Dont glue yet) put webbing through long piece slot..fold the webbing and glue bottom disk in place. Now stitch the webbing sandwitched through the long piece and also the bottom disk. Once stitched you then glue the top disk in position..and it hides the stitching from view and wear...if that makes sense. Make sure there is enough overlap on the long piece and the bottom did k so it all glues neatly onto the boat..if that makes sense too.

That sounds like a good idea it would be a lot stronger with less chance of it pulling through the slit if it's all stiched together and not just relying on the glue

I found a place that does the seat patches in black hypalon so I could just glue them straight to the tubes with no messing about only thing is they are in America and the price for 4 of them deliverd is about £67 a bit more than j wanted to pay because of the postage but I think I might just bite the bullet and get them it will save me a lot of messing about trying to make my own and at least I know these will be right here is a link to them

Ah ha ..... you've sourced some in black Captain Cod 8-) .....despite my best efforts searching the web I failed :thud ..... you've done well to find those :Hats
Like you say a little expensive once the import duty/tax/shipping has been added but yeah saves you the hassle and fear of getting it wrong :|

Read yours and Donny's thoughts on the method and yes we were all singing roughly from the same hymn sheet ...... folding over the webbing or stitching it to the round patch was to prevent it pulling through  but that's beside the by now with your find ;-)

Now to get some hook/locators and some ply and you'll have your seats done in no time :star
:cheers

I emailed about 10 company's today that are based in the UK to see If they sold black hypalon seat patches and about 3 of them do but they want £25 each plus £25 postage so it looks like the ones from America aren't such a bad buy after all I've just got see if there will be any charges from customs because I've been stung for that before

Gotta say that stuff I've had sent from the US and Australia have been easier transactions and sometimes cheaper than within the UK despite the duty/postage :thud
At 4 patches costing you £125 including postage within the UK :o there's no way £67 from the US, even with a duty to be paid it'll be anywhere near that sum ...... it's just waiting for them to arrive which ain't so bad at this time of year ;-) :|

Thanks for the reassurance Paul I am thinking the import duties should be no more than £20 and like you said I'm in no rush for them because I won't be gluing them till we get some warmer weather
