Excel Volaire 390 Beachmaster Transom Wheels

I bought my Excel Volaire 390 and ordered the beachmaster transom wheels for it. Having had the Railblaza wheels on our Aircat, and the (horrible) Honwave ones on our T38, I was wanting something compact and easy to use like the Railblaza, but a bit more robust.
The challenge with the Volaire 390 (for those who don't know) is that the inflatable floor sits below and extends back from the transom.
I made spacers from two pieces of 18mm ply for the beachmaster wheels, they fit perfectly and are completely solid. The boat is balanced really well and is actually better balanced than the Honwave was, making it lighter at the bow when lifting. It rolls great over many surfaces, and the wheels are easy to raise and deploy in the water.
Overall - very pleased and would recommend 👍

a neat way of doing it.
out of interest do all 4 bolts per side go through the transom or only the top 2?

cheers Clive

Thanks Clive.

There are 6 bolts overall, 4 that go through the transom - the top two also hold on the wheel QR lugs, the middle two go through the spacer & transom, and the lower two are for the bottom set of QR lugs and only go through the spacer.

It is definitely necessary to have 4 bolts through the transom as they are only M6, I also used large 32mm washers to spread the load better.

I sealed everything with butyl tape as I wasn't sure how well it would work - if I did it again I would use some adhesive sealant to add extra strength - the nice thing about butyl tape is that is comes off easy if I want to remove them or decide to fix it more permanently later.
