Link for best transom wheels
Hi, I am looking at fitting transom wheels to my excel 3.65m boat. After reading the posts on here, there seem to be lots of transom wheels that are rubbish and fall apart. Does anyone have a link for a good set please? The boat has an aluminium floor and 20hp engine so will be heavy but I do have a trailer and a launch trailer but would like some transom wheels so I can 'explore' beaches etc when I'm out.

Hi Ben,
Welcome to the forum
Looking on the excel website they have three sets listed depending on the length and style you want.
All ranging from £65- to £150
Here’s a link
http://www.excel-inflatables.co.uk/boat ... ptions.php
And the image.
There’s Kentucky about and mostly they’re fine, the ones that seem to be an issue are the cranked style that Honwave use , they need to be hooked to go around the trim tabs that form part of the hull.
Does your boat have trim tabs or is it a straight down transom without anything protruding ?

Re: Link for best transom wheels
I've found the roller tubes as recommended by Donny Wilcox much more practical than wheels.
They will roll over large pebbles, they don't run away with you on a slipway, though it is still a two person operation with our Volaire and a 20hp.
They come as a pair although often one is enough. Low cost and super robust. You don't even need a pump for them as they work best slightly soft. They fold up small so ideal for touring trips to remote beaches.
I was sceptical until I noticed they launch oil tankers using the technique. Won't be using wheels again although I think they do have a place for lighter boats on concrete slips.

Re: Link for best transom wheels
As this post is 2 years old now, I originally bought some 10“ wheels which just dug into soft sand.
This year, I swapped them out to these..... It has been the best modification I have done, I can pull the boat (full with fishing gear and everything else) single handed in and out the sea.

I really like balloon tyres and if you dont have a concrete ramp to use the are the ultimate, but the price makes my eyes water
£80 each for 12 inch ones. £30 each from China but I dont want 100 to get the price down.
