Took the ‘new to us’ ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo for its inaugural shakedown run on the River Trent yesterday, mounted on our tiny Ocean Runner 340 rib. Enjoyed it so much went back again today.
Have to say had a great couple of chill out days just pootling along in virtual silence at a brisk walking pace, taking in all the sights and sounds of the river bank. Noticed far more wildlife than with the noisy gas motor including all the usual suspects herons, egrets etc plus today a kingfisher and what I thought was an otter swimming along but when closer think it could have been a mink.
Not sure performance figures are really what these little motors are about but run times might be of interest to some;
1000w (max) 5.8mph with 1hr 15m run time
500w 4.8mph with 2hr 30m run time
250w 4.0mph with 5hr run time
100w 3.3mph with 12hr 30m run time.
Personally feel the flat out speed/run times pretty dire and a misleading indicator of performance. Seems more effective to utilise the electric motors high torque and run at lower power settings which can still return a decent turn of speed with vastly improved battery life. Running at 250w quarter throttle still achieves 4.0mph with a very useable 5hrs run time.
Hoping to try this on our 5m rib and if ok it may even replace the 3.5hp petrol auxiliary.
Big thanks to @Robmac of this parish for selling me this great little motor.

Re: ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo
So glad to see it being put to good use Ian.
My original plan was to buy a spare battery, although they are quite expensive, and hook up the used battery to a solar panel to recharge whilst on the move or moored up.
Enjoy.

Re: ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo
‘Crocking’ day out yesterday up here in the frozen north. This time tried the ePropulsion on our Elling and performance very similar to the Ocean Runner above…perhaps half a mile faster across the range but negligible gain really.
Very relaxing just cruising around bay hopping. Also snapped a shot or two of the resident Arctic Terns busy zipping back and forth across the bay feeding their young.
