Re: Mercury 20HP Efi - Smoke on the water
Yes it has @ChrisParish
I must admit when I first read the write up I thought similarly to @sonny1 & @harrison but I thought I’d leave it for a while,
Perhaps with hindsight (which none of us are born with) it should have been put on the forum even if it was the day before just to let people know, maybe a few lessons have been learnt.
It’s easy to sit behind a screen ranting & the longer it goes on the worse it gets so possibly the best way to deal with this is to arrange a day out, to get everyone including @Brerabit out on the water, have some fun, a good meal & a drink or an ice cream!! & to remind people what the forum is about, if anyone wants to kiss & make up ( if you’re that way inclined) so much the better.

Quite right. Everyone come back, gather round and......... breathe........... and relax....
We all secretly know this is a forum about the male menopause and not really boats, but if you all carry on like this you'll give the game away. Your mid-life crises are peeking out from under your petticoats.
So who wants to talk about smokey engines? No matter which way I transport my 2-stroke the bugger keeps on smoking!!

firstly, thanks to all concerned, this has made my weekend, brilliant reading. so to brererabit first , so youve flounced off, good riddance, youve been antagonistic since you (very)recently joined but of course you wont read this will you, now to chris parish, i never met a nicer more genuine man, i think youve been blindsided ,and to some extent used . please ,please, please dont abandon ship over this . i most definately dont think you have been underhand in any way ,i dont think you have it in you. you are ,for me the most eminent member of the forum.you have met both me and harrison and i hope you consider us reasonable men ,so our dissapointment is genuine. as for ,mitch and froglet and simonk ,well, they have got it spot on ,taking it all with a pinch of salt. of the few people i have actually met i have liked them all. long live the forum and those who dont flounce off if others dont agree with them

Re: Mercury 20HP Efi - Smoke on the water
Thanks @sonny1 for your kind words, that made my day.
Brerabit may come over a little stern on here but having met him he is a really nice guy and I don’t think he did any of this deliberately. I think he may, however, have underestimated how passionate some of us can be. On reflection it would have been worth us putting a shout out the day before when I decided to take the T38 - that’s my fault.
I’m not abandoning ship, this forum has had far too much of a positive effect on my life to ditch it over something like this.

Re: Mercury 20HP Efi - Smoke on the water
I appear to have stirred up the pot with my comment earlier yesterday, sorry if that's been the case, it certainly wasn't meant to sound as some of you have taken it.
I'd read a few posts, and was on my way out of the door- leaving Cornwall to start my long drive home when I posted.
When I said "the first comparison” I meant exactly that, Not this last run out that @ChrisParish has done with @Brerabit.
I believe the first comparison was done on a weekday, Yes ok, some of you may be retired or able to get a day off, the majority of us have to work during the week.
Unless you're going to do a full comparison of the boats it's not a comparison... (remember the title - The Ultimate Sib Test)
@Brerabit - I think you've maybe (hopefully) miss read me, I certainly wasn't pointing any guns at Chris P regarding private messages, Again I apologise if it does read that way, but it certainly wasn't meant that way... As PM's had been mentioned previously- I was clearly re-raising the pm issue that we have from time to time... The forum needs member activity for it to work, If it goes into pm chats, the forum dies and closes.
@harrison - I completely understand your frustration here, but I do think you're going a little overboard with the
- Please guys, you're all outstanding folk and superb contributing members, we don't want fall outs and most certainly don't want to lose you guys from the forum.... Let’s just wind it in a little
I think anyone having a go @Brerabit is out of order, all he is doing, and all he has done is offer his boat up for others to have a ride out in and experience the volaire, that in my opinion makes him a bloody superb chap.. offering his newly acquired/purchased craft for others to experience... think about it guys !!!!
@Mitch @simonk @Froglet @sonny1 - Can I have a 99 also please...
Right guys... Barny over -
Keep it pleasant please, You're all great guys with a joint love of sibs/fribs/ribs and water... Let’s enjoy our hobby and not fall out.

@Martin I’m sorry you don’t like my sarcastic comment.
Assuming you are referring to my response to the “over and out” post by Mr Brerabit.
To be honest, if we hadn’t been out on the rib for the last five days in this fab weather and not in such a good mood, my reply would have been far less palatable as I presumably accounted for one of those three members his comments were aimed at.

Well I am not sorry at all for my sarcastic comment.Brerabit wrote: ↑27 Jul 2019, 08:12I'm gobsmacked at your support @Martin for the petulant, childish and quite frankly belligerent attitudes of some recent posters.
but as it grew legs I was shocked by the vitriolic nature of the comments.
He's due a massive apology from at least three of you and unless and until that happens I don't want to be part of a forum that behave like this.

Re: Mercury 20HP Efi - Smoke on the water
i must have my twopennarth. my post which said good riddance to a previouse poster was far too harsh and for that i apologise, however in mitigation i had been called, petulant, childish, belligerant, vitriolic and i had harangued, castigated and persecuted poor old CP . the truth is that none of my response barbs were aimed at anyone other than the person who had labelled me with the aforementioned names .so if the brickbats start coming my way am i not fully entitled to lob a few back. i state again , chris parish ,in my book, is the best sort of person anyone could meet ,helpful, polite, and freely giving with his considerable knowledge. all the negative comments were deflected towards chris by none other than the intended recipient, who it would seem has decamped ,which i can honestly say is sad and not what i would have wished for. to close i will add that at no time have i called anyone names and martin you have nothing to apologise for

Ha Ha!
Just fired up me Mariner 20 efi as hopefully joining Mitch for a jaunt from Baiter in the morning.
Smoked like a trooper for a couple of secs on start up...stored upright and only transported on port side (elevated)....what the fook!! Never done that before.
Should’ve bought a Suzy.
