Re: New mercury outboards
I think Cambridge Outboards is Dan Cooper from Soham. Google will tell you everything you need to know. Be very very careful @jonsy.

Re: New mercury outboards
Wouldn’t be worried about no charging circuit. Don’t think any manual start tiller motors come with those.
I’d be more concerned with Cambridge Outboards. Seem to be bona fida Tohatsu dealers but not Mercury, owned by an Eastern European company which re-powerhead outboards and have links to a very dodgy eBay site ‘outboards12’
Caveat emptor

Re: New mercury outboards
Apologies, think they might be Mercury dealers after all as listed on the Mercury site.
Would still be concerned offering to run in and first service though. Ten hours to run in, twenty hours to first service and losing out on around £160 for said service. Not sure ‘running in’ even in a dealers big tank is any good.
Anyway if all kosher ensure paperwork registered with Mercury is all in your name as first owner, date registered is current and service recorded with Mercury. Also make sure you get the engine data printout of the service...will give hours, engine revs, and diagnostics to date.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: New mercury outboards
Honda manual start, tiller handled outboards 8hp up to and including 20hp have a 6 amp charging circuit, I know my 15hp does and I find it very handy.
Not sure regarding Yamaha, Suzuki etc but it will be on their websites.
As your post dosen't mention what your intended purpose for your boat is, ie: fishing, pleasure boating etc then obviously you would be more limited in your options to recharge any electrical items without one, Just search @Brerabit's posts on his new motor as an example. Obviously you can work around it or may never use it but It would be foolish to assume you (or to whom you may wish to sell your engine to in the future) would never need/want the option.
Just food for thought.
Best of luck with your choice

With sufficient thrust, pigs will fly just fine.

Re: New mercury outboards
Thank you for the advice guys , I shall still run in engine carefully . Just a cautionary note if anyone knows anyone selling or buying through CTC Marine tread carefully . Just sold my boat through them and was nearly out of pocket by 2000 pound my own fault really .

Re: New mercury outboards
Mercury 20hp outboard delivered today from Cambridge outboards , cannot wait to pick up F-Rib 360 on Friday so im hoping to be out on the water this weekend . Im making my own seat cushions for it as the shop bought ones don't look that thick and I can make them for a fraction of the cost . Would anyone with a F-Rib 360 have the dimensions of the seat as I have to get the foam . Thank you
