Hi there,
Does anyone know about a product/glue that could be used to bond rubber with fiberglass?
I think that the bottom strap of the keel is made of rubber but maybe it's not. Could it be PVC?
Part of that strap is start to be unglued from the fiberglass and I would like to know if anyone could advise me on a product to glue it again.
I've sent an email to Steve Bruce from Foldable RIB's, I've tried to reach him on the phone, I've also sent an email to Nestway boats but unfortunately could get any answer from anyone.
I've attached a photo of the FRIB keel.
Thanks for your help

Got no help here, no problem. Tried on other places and was well advised.
For those who might have the same problem the solution is: Sikaflex 291i
Be safe everybody

Re: Rubber strap peeled from the fiberglass keel
Happened to come across a PBO vid in todays browsing.
291i I always thought of as a sealant / adhesive.
Turns out they do a 292i which is an ADHESIVE.
It may be worth you doing some further research to see if that is a better product for your particular job.
I used 291i to fix my transducer inside the kayak hull , properly dried, prepped and solvent cleaned.
It did get wet inside some of the time and when i came to take it out 5 years later I was expecting one hell of a fight. Wrong! I was able to slide a 40 mm scraper under it fairly easily and peel it off in about 10 minutes.
Either way good luck with the fix.

Re: Rubber strap peeled from the fiberglass keel
Hi Clive,
Thank you for your availability to answer me and for your opinion.
Effectively the Sikaflex 291i was advised to resolve my situation. I'll apply it soon and then I'll give you news about how it went.
If it really doesn't serve me as a solution, I will have to look for an alternative. One that was also given to me was to use a product to glue Neoprene (for example Adeco Adeprene Forte Rubber Dinghy For Neoprene 2-Component Adhesive ) but since I don't have the I'm sure the keel protection is rubber I'll try it first with the Sikaflex 291i.
Thanks again for your comment Clive
