Tarpaulins
I am sure I saw a fitted cover for the Fribs which is made to measure but also pretty sure I couldn't afford it.
It might sound like a stupid question but does anyone have any idea of the best size Tarp to get for the 360 ? I am mooring up for a week on Loch Lomond and don't fancy having to bale it our each day.
I was thinking 5X2M with 10M of Rope ?
I know I need to Register the boat and although I wasn't planning on it at first I might also try a bit of fishing, as some of you know I usually only take to sea off Arisaig so any other thoughts or advice would also be welcome.
Cheers
Dave

Re: Tarpaulins
Hi Dave, have a look at Ducksback covers, they have a size guide to select the right one. I allowed for my bow canopy on my F-Rib 360. Not much more expensive than a decent tarp and already boat shaped! much easier than faffing with a tarp and rope, elasticated at both ends.
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

Re: Tarpaulins
Thanks Mike.
Can you remember which one it was / how much you paid ?
I bet its still out of my price range although I agree much better, to be honest its only for a week while on Loch Lomond after that the boat will sadly be tucked away again for another year.

Re: Tarpaulins
Hi Dave, you can get a tarp for about 10 or 15 quid,if you are not sure about Loch Lomond there is Invercoe or Loch Iinnie further up both with slipways for easy launching, i am only about an hour away from Lomond if you fancy a meet.

Re: Tarpaulins
Dave,
The Ducksback covers are great, we have them on the rib, now on it’s 3rd season, and also recently one for the T38. They’re waterproof and breathable and good value.
I’d recommend a Size 2 for your 360 and think the cost is £57 delivered.
However, not really suitable if being used while boat is afloat on a mooring as elasticated edges will be below waterline plus difficult to attach adjustable straps which go under hull.
Whilst a faff to fit and strap down, probably best to just get a cheapo 10’ x 12’ tarp from Machine Mart for £8.99 to cover whilst afloat.

Re: Tarpaulins
Gratemaker, yeah I looked at the costs of Tarps it was more the size I was not sure about. Yeah I would be up for a meet, not sure which days I will be on the water and depends mostly on the family (and weather), do you do any fishing on the Loch ?
Harrison, thanks do you think Size 2 would also go over the engine ? Anyway it will be sat in the water all week so I will just go for the tarp and thanks I have now ordered one.

Re: Tarpaulins
I would imagine a Size 2 cover would easily go over the motor. We have a size 3 and it swamps our T38.

Re: Tarpaulins
When using a tarp cover, is it advisable to have something inside to raise it into a 'roof' format to avoid pooling? If so what do folks use?
cheers
Roger

Re: Tarpaulins
Roger, on my T38 I just use a 5 meter ratchet strap to raise the cover front to back. If the engine is removed then I tape some foam to the end of a length of 2 x 1 and g-clamp it verticaly to the transom, adjusting the the height as necessary, to run the strap over. HTH

With sufficient thrust, pigs will fly just fine.

Re: Tarpaulins
I use 2 arches of cheap 20mm electrical conduit connected with T pieces to a ridge pole of the same conduit.
The ends just tuck under the grab rope on each side of the T38 and provide enough run-off to stop water pooling on my Ducksback cover.
