Using a 360 for Sea Fishing

Post by Adrian849978 » 27 Feb 2019, 11:58

Hi... does anyone use their 360 for sea fishing as currently thinking about purchasing a 360 with 20hp motor and wanted to check how it performs on inshore water? thanks

Mine is mainly used for sea fishing, and it's ideal for 2 people. We usually go up to about 2 miles out and sometimes 5 or 6 miles down the coast, depending on what we are after, we could go further, but their's no point. The F-RIB is pushed along with a 15hp Mercury 2 stroke, 2 up wth all the gear, it cruises at 12-14kn and will hit 20kn with a following wind.
I can, and do, launch single handed, but it's better with 2 as I launch from a beach. As I only have to drag it a short distance to the beach I leave it inflated during the summer months. The only limitations where I am are wind and swell, I don't go out if it's blowing more than 10mph and only launch if the waves are 2ft or less.
Having previously had a Zodiac Fastroller and a Bombard Aerotec, both good boats, I think the F-rib suits my needs best.

Hi Adrian,
Welcome Aboard !!!

The F-Rib is a superb craft, You'll have no problem fishing in it whatsoever.

Have a good look around the forum and you'll see what so many of us do in sibs and F-Ribs, They are far more capable than people think.

Enjoy the forum, if there's anythig we can help with, just yell.

Hi,

I mainly use my F-RIB 360 for sea fishing. I've taken it up to Scotland and also launched in North Wales and Bridlington.
I think it's the perfect compromise because I can handle it on my own but it's big enough to easily fish 2 people with a lot of gear or 3 at a push.
One trip off Conwy I had my brother, mum, and 5 year old son with me plus fishing gear, 3 of us were fishing, 1 spectator. It was cosy but do-able - and we caught lots of fish.

I keep it permanently inflated on a trailer, I usually reverse as far as I can down the ramp but I don't dip the trailer into the sea. I just take it off the trailer and launch it the rest of the way by hand on the (essential) launch wheels.

In Bridlington the beach is very soft and sandy (and WIDE at low tide) so I cheat and sit in the boat on the trailer while a tractor drives me out :D , again I get the tractor to stop short of the water and I finish off by hand to avoid dipping the trailer. The launch company have agreed to charge me jetski prices seeing as Im barely any bigger than a jetski.

When I bought mine the Suzuki was the lightest engine and the only 20HP with EFI so it was a no brainer decision for me engine wise. With 20 HP on the back you will have plenty of power for sea fishing (and anything else).

HTH.

Thanks,
Matt.
