new user - honwave availability

Post by jaziniho » 02 Dec 2020, 18:07

Hi All,

Just signed up to the forum as a new user.

This started with me deciding to replace the outboard that came with a sailboat i've had a while - the engine is 20years old now, and after something newer I can feel a bit more trust in and a few extra HP for tidal areas.

Came across the honwaves whilst investigating - had been planning on looking at inflatables next year, but was thinking best chance of a good deal would be to bring it all together in one purchase if I can manage it.

So, I'm looking at:
- Honwave t32 air-v
- BF6 (possibly with the 6A charger) for the honwave
- BF10 with remotes etc for the sailboat.

Understand the BF6 is at the small end, but more focused on portability than anything else at the moment.
+ myself and partner are very small and light - barely a 100kg between pair of us.

I called up nearest official honda dealer, left a voicemail - bit garbled, so followed up via email - heard nothing back.
So contacted the next nearest official dealer a couple of days later... and heard nothing back.

Obviously we're just coming out of lockdown, was wondering if anyone else has had similar experience or difficulties getting in touch with firms recently?

Normally i've found if you're looking like a sell opportunity people will be right onto you!

ALso are the new model honwaves making out in to the market now? they should be available for order?

Hi Jaziniho (curious name) :welcome

The new Honwaves were to be released in November but I believe they’re still on back order for the dealers.
I’ve a contact at Honda Marine so I’ll email them tomorrow and try to get an update.

Have you looked at other outboard makes rather than just Honda ?
I believe that the Suzuki 6hp was the lightest in its class (I could be wrong) but we’ll worth a look at.

Enjoy the forum - we’ve a great bunch in here and a mass of knowledge at your fingertips.

Martin :cheers

I just had a reply from Honda re availability of the new design.

They said check with your dealer!!!!! :thud

Go figure ! the dealer has to ask you and you can not give an answer.

Not very inspiring for the belief in future support and help.

Bad form Honda you could do MUCH MUCH better.

One of the two got back to me - probably should just be a bit more patient with shops closed with lockdown and all that.

Does anyone have the official boat-bag that's for the t24 up to t32?
Looking to try and find its dimensions, as thinking about transport and storage.

On the other accessories..

[*] Bow bag and seat bag, are they any good?
[*] If the new models dont have the trim tabs, will the wheels be different? will other wheel options maybe fit? official ones at best part of 200 seem steep!
