New Honwave T32 Owner

Hi, I have been reading a lot recently about these boats and have just bought a new T32 Air floor to use occasionally where i live as there are a plenty of places to pop out and go for a cruise in Rye with my 4 year old son.

Next purchase is an outboard, and I am pretty certain on a new Yamaha 6hp as long as it will fit in my boot does anyone know the length of it? I am sure this will be enough to power me and a few friends along the river or lake and maybe even along the coast? whats the T32 like with 3 adults in (250kg?) plus gear?

any advice would be welcome

Hi Stephen and to the forum.

The T32 is a fine boat and 6hp will get you on the plane with one person in without any problem.
250kg + gear is a lot in a such a small boat, but on rivers and sheltered coastal waters you should be fine, just don't expect to be breaking any speed records!

I'm not sure on the length of the outboard, but a couple of people on here have got them so with any luck someone will be along soon with a measurement for you!

Yep! Sometimes it is called “standard shaft” rather than short shaft.

Hi, I too have the T32 with a 6hp mariner which is the same as the mercury / tohatsu, with 2 of us (150 kilos ) we get 10-12 knots at 3/4 throttle when it's flat calm, now the engine has got a few hours on it we got 13.3 knots flat out yesterday. As for length , with the tiller straight up its 1180 mm and from skeg to top of engine cowl it's 1080 mm , probably no help really as you want a yamaha!

I was looking at all the 6hp motors and they all are a very similar price so it was just down to that i like yamaha as a brand and dont know much about the others

also another concern is transporting fuel in my car as i know all too much about fuel expanding in fuel cans. i use aspen fuel at my workplace for garden machinery and its great stuff and the engines rarely need any maintenance as it doesn't eat into the fuel lines or aluminium parts at all. it doesn't smell bad, doesn't go stale and can be kept in the fuel tank for 5 years which would suit me as i am only going to be using the boat 10 times a year.

does anyone use aspen in their outboards?

I use it all the time at my garden machinery business. And now i have bought a yamaha 6hp i am going to use it in that too and was amazed no one had heard of it in the marine world.
Even if just using a litre when you are not going to be using the motor for a while

Yamaha 6HP is a great motor. Go for it.
