Transom Wheels

Post by Windsurfer » 19 Sep 2019, 20:16

Hi All

I have fitted the pacer marine heavy duty transom wheels/brackets on my honwave t32 and i wanted to know if there are any better wheels for pulling my honwave back up a steep shingle beach as the ones that come with the kit seem to just dig in or drag, they are great everywhere else.

Im guessing a larger diameter and wider thickness would help.

Any info would be great.

Thanks

There are some sand wheels on the market, but I can’t remember where I saw them..... that’s not very useful is it? Sorry. There are some out there - if I find them I will let you know.
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Wheeleez makes a line of balloon wheels in various sizes and axle diameters. They work great on sand but expensive. You can find them on line direct from Wheeleez or from a number of distributes. It's worth looking at to understand all your options.

Thanks for the replies , wheels look great although a bit pricey..

I would be keen to know if anyone has used them on a shingle beach with steep sections, as i wouldn't want to buy them and there not much better than what i have.

Cheers

I saw a post over the last few weeks on a retrofit of the wheels on this site. They were real happy with the wheels.

"Look under the "DYI & Modifications]" section for LAUNCH WHEELS by Angus from June 27th. There are some great pictures near the end of his balloon style wheels. If it is out there then someone on this forum has tried it!

Over the years I've seen several posts on facebook or in forums about using those wheels in similar conditions and they all had very positive reviews. I had kept them in mind for some of my possible beach launches but wound up not needing them.

Do a simple search for balloon wheels. Not sure if it's the same in the UK but my results over here brought up quite a few different brands of similar construction for 1/2 the cost.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.
