Anchor and cleat setup for Frib

I recently brought a new anchor and rode to use on my Frib 430. It’s an 11lb lewmar claw with 150’ of rope and 5’ of heavy chain. Everything fits nicely in a cheap cooler bag from Walmart for only $6. :thumbsup It is a little oversized on purpose for use on swift rivers where dragging anchor is proh...

Re: New 430 review

P.s in that picture the rod holders are Mounted to the strip of wood and the whole thing is held on the transom by the weight of the engine. Oh that makes sense! I’m considering the same mounting location but just screwing into the transom and using good marine sealant. Are there any better alterna...

New 430 review

Well it’s about time that I posted a review of my Frib 430, so here it is. :cheers I bought mine last fall from The Wetworks, aka Sail Loft, in the UK. They had the best price by far and FedEx shipping to Alaska was approx $700 US. Not bad for such a huge parcel to go around the globe in 4 days. Shi...

Re: Moving that heavy 4 stroke

I use one of these, a brilliant bit of kit https://www.bhg-marine.co.uk/easy-motor-toter-outboard-trolley-standard-shaft-special-offer-5843-p.asp I’ve been searching for one of these in the states, the original inventor/manufacturer was in Canada but apparently stopped production a while back. They...

Re: Recent FRIB valve adapter

My 430 came with the correct Leafield adapter but it was the one without the internal spring. It works but my Bravo pump can only overcome the valve pressure with the high pressure pumping mode. The result is a much longer and much LOUDER inflation. I’ll be ordering a new adapter with the spring. Th...

Re: Çhest waders fo launching ???

Flooded waders don’t drag you down because they are heavy. They prevent you from using your legs in any meaningful way and greatly restrict your movement. With only your arms to keep you afloat and all that extra drag from the rest of your clothes, you’re not as strong a swimmer as you thought you w...

Re: Tiny Tach - Propeller testing

Fly, We’ve had a few TTO’s, all reliable but the batteries are non replaceable. Never had one die though...expect to last a minimum 4 years/300 odd hours. They also log hours. The one from Amazon, recommended by ChrisP, has a replaceable battery though. Have found most motors that rev up to 6000rpm...

Re: Çhest waders fo launching ???

My statements above only apply to those wearing waders without a proper life jacket. With a properly fitting life jacket waders don’t pose much a safety risk and I would gladly endorse them.:thumbsup

Re: Çhest waders fo launching ???

Waders don’t make you slip under, any algae, seaweed or loose sand will do that. Once you do slip and flood your waders you will absolutely be in trouble. Even standing up in shallow water can be difficult, swimming is impossible. I don’t know about how buoyant the different materials are but I can ...

Re: Çhest waders fo launching ???

I’ve been known to wear hip waders when launching boats and I usually just keep them on the whole trip. In warm water I wouldn’t bother but I like to keep my feet warm and dry in our cold waters. One thing you must keep in mind when wearing waders is ALWAYS wear a life jacket! You cannot swim in flo...
