Re: Battery requirements
Thanks for your replies. I used a ride on with a Briggs and Stratton once and the battery on that was nowhere near that size. I have noticed since my post is the charging rate is pretty high at 6 amp. Like you say Paul if the manufacturer has allowed for failed starts, they must also have allowed fo...

Re: Sand hoppers in the F -Rib ?
Unfortunately I can't find the email as is always the way.... But seeing as so many people have the same enquiry I have contacted F-Rib again for a bit more detail. I think it is worth the repeat query, as this is UK's most active forum for F-Rib owners, building knowledge base for their product can...

Re: Sand hoppers in the F -Rib ?
Hi all, I had the same issue. I contacted F-rib about it and they said don't fill the holes (I'll dig out the email later for exact wording and explanation of the hole's purpose). I have found that tilting the boat with a wicking material (like a fleece towel) over the hole works. I think the water ...

Battery requirements
I'm looking to fit a battery capable of starting my 9.8 tohatsu 4 stroke, and also powering my depth sounder. The recommendations in the tohatsu manual seem excessive (40 to 70 ah) and I'm not sure I want to pay the weight penalty. Does anyone know why such a large battery is recommended to start a ...

Re: Beach landings and tubes
All really good points kaman, I'm going to give it a miss as there is too much possibility for cocks ups!! I will look for somewhere local that is more tube friendly. I too have been impressed with how resilient the tubes are James, although I have not tried towing mine across the floor behind a car...

Re: Beach landings and tubes
Thanks all for your feedback, there is a consensus that avoiding the situation entirely is the best course of action. I am surprised however that tube damage of this type is not more common. I have noticed that kealeasy is a popular recommendation on this site, so how does the tube escape damage? I ...

Re: Beach landings and tubes
Hi kaman, that is my exact concern. Don't get me wrong I'm very careful with my boat, but the tubes seen very vulnerable and the boat can be a right handful to recover even in small breakers. Realistically it's a two person craft, so I'm always light on manpower when manhandling it. I did look into ...

Re: Beach landings and tubes
Apologies but reading back I may have been too vague, I thinking of attaching the strake to the tube not the hull.

Beach landings and tubes
Hi all, I have had a few ideas jangling about for a while and I would like your opinions on one of them please. I live in Kent and do most of my boating around the whitecliffs coast and the local rivers, neither of which are blessed with ideal launch and recovery locations. Most of the beaches are s...

Re: First day at sea with F-rib 275
Nice idea, I'm sure my local homebase had something similar on offer the other day. Anything is better than the bare seat, and spending £100 on the genuine part!
