Re: Kayak boat
Phil ! Great to hear your back on . Like me been off for some time due to ........ anyway I regrettably had to sell the Excel 390 volaire. And like you old habits die hard lol I purchased a seapro 270 alu hull . I would say it would be like your old F-rib 330 but rigid and definitely not foldable ! ...

Re: what is prop cupping
Hi bun, this is a skilled procedure carried out to produce more thrust.Or reduce the lost thrust due to the flatter prop blade. Hence the term cupping. If you imagine your hand(s) flat whilst your swimming you lose some of that thrust pushing water. Now think of cupping your hand(s) again whilst swi...

Re: Longevity of 90w gear oil
Hi Robert, I've always used my theory if in doubt leave it out.
Put fresh oil in and use the old oil in your oil can to lube other moving parts.
Take Care

Re: Gasoline longevity
Hi Robert, I don't know if you got a reply to your question ? And I've just got back onto the forum so apologies for late reply. I would not rely on it , I would use that fuel in the chainsaw, motorcycle or cement mixer etc. You can add fresh fuel to it but most importantly ensure that it's filtered...

Metal Lures
I purchased similar lures 15yrs ago and took them with me to Greece. Went on a boat trip and had an opportunity to fish with them in the Med. I caught a puffer fish and that was it . I used them at home around my local area and I hooked two mackerel on the same lure ! So, last night I came across th...

Re: Rib or Rhib
There are boats out there with fibreglass and aluminium hulls hence the term RIB , rigid inflatable boat. I have purchased a small seapro rib 2.7m with alu hull which will be ideal for pottering around and some inshore fishing . A 4.5mtr rib is a serious bit of kit but as for seating ALL of them whe...

Re: Tohatsu 9.8hp 2 stroke thermostat removal and test
Re fitted the new thermostat and head gasket . I was able to torque the lower 2 head bolts using a small 10mm combination spanner . I put the ring end on the 10mm hex bolt head and the 3/8th drive of the torque wrench slots nicely into the open end of the spanner.Using the spanner as an extention to...

Re: Tohatsu 9.8hp 2 stroke thermostat removal and test
Removed the old head gasket and remnants by using the adapted hacksaw blade , carb cleaner and a drill with rotary wire brush.
Cleaned the threads on the middle bolt which is now clean .
Looking at the cylinder head the bolt holes are numbered so the tightening/torque sequence is straight forward.

Re: Tohatsu 9.8hp 2 stroke thermostat removal and test
Testing and checking the thermostat which had 52 °C stamped on it was put into a plastic cap off an aerosol oven cleaner spray. I boiled a kettle and poured carefully into the orange cap with the thermostat placed into it. Then, it's just a waiting game to see if the thermostat opens, which it does ...

Re: Tohatsu 9.8hp 2 stroke thermostat removal and test
The spark plugs look as new but I do put redex into the fuel mix.
