Re: Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend a suitable padlock for use in salt water. Many thanks
Received my Panther Marine lock. Pictures below 901A3824-B4C6-4B6B-91DB-2AC7D8EF9104.jpeg 0E455902-DEF4-46E7-8A59-2E42E48F376C.jpeg The black sponge on top is one of the inserts to stop any rattling. It is completely bulletproof and I can imagine that even with a grinder, it is not going to be a qui...

Re: Takacat 380LX and Tohatsu 20hp
No wetter than a regular SIB. The bow is fairly high out of the water due to the design and doesn’t scoop water as it looks like it will (and the recent video of a similar design getting swamped which was 100% user issue). There is some spray if you go over 10knots without planing, but it’s mainly t...

Re: Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend a suitable padlock for use in salt water. Many thanks
I just purchased the Panther Marine outboard lock from Amazon US. It cover the entire area around the transom screws rather than just slot through the holes like a padlock. As such, it is almost impossible to forcibly remove. It is not cheap, but I figure it’s cheaper than replacing an outboard. I d...

@Helphelp
Happy to answer any questions you may have about Takacats. I did a load of research before buying so can probably answer most questions about them.

Re: New Takacat 460 LX
Nice solution for lifting the outboard in and out of the car! I have a trolley cart thing I lift the outboard onto which seems easier every time I use it. Took the “cat” out again yesterday for a short blast with the family. Rearranged the family to better distribute weight and we popped up on plane...

New Takacat 460 LX
So after months of research (and dreaming) I bought a Takacat 460 LX and a Mercury 20HP 4-stroke EFI. Primary goal was to get the family out on the water to enjoy the amazing beaches we have on our doorstep here in Hong Kong. I looked at the F-Rib, but shipping from the UK was crazy expensive which ...

Re: Is it just me ...?
rogerblack , I fully agree with you on the fair weather. Personally, I try not to go in the water below 18°c :D We actually have the opposite problem with summer temps hitting over 36°c average with 95%+ humidity. Even with a sea breeze, you feel like you are being hit with a hot air gun. I have be...

Re: Is it just me ...?
Thanks Martin, I will give Steve a call later today. Hopefully we can sort out a FRIB somehow! At this stage I just want to get out on the water and am 90% convinced to pull the trigger on a Takacat. Patience was never a strong point of mine lol. This is the view from my WFH desk in my garden ... IM...

Re: Is it just me ...?
Thanks for reminding me how much of a foreigner I have become Roger! Over here it is WhatsApp (or WeChat) for everything. I avoid the phone as my Cantonese sucks. I tend to forget the UK speaks English on the phone lol! As it happens, I got a reply from the HK company today, even though they were th...

Is it just me ...?
Is it just me or does the boating/marine industry have a real problem with customer service? I have reached out to various marine shops, course providers, and manufacturers over the past month and the response times are bad to no reply at all. I have used email and WhatsApp, and had the same result....
