Trip to Falmouth?

Hi all, Out in the SIB again today and felt very comfortable and confident in nice calm conditions around St Mawes. Really starting to feel I can go further afield and be safe in our Excel Volante 330, the 6hp was more powerful than I was expecting two up, even against the tide (granted it’s neap to...

Planning a day on the River Dart

We covered 18 miles today on a full round trip of Ullswater with two up in our new 3.3m Excel Volante, and the Suzi 6hp is pretty much broken in. Got about 12mph which I’m really impressed with considering the motor AV plate is at least an inch too low and and we had a lot of stuff in the boat. Goin...

Re: What Prop for my Suzuki DF20A?

Hi folks, great thread, read with interest. Is this only worth doing on the larger HP motors or is it something I should consider on my 3.3m SIB with my smaller 6hp? I need to raise my Suzuki on the transom as the AC plate is too low, but I’m trying to understand how to interpret the rpm readings fr...

Re: Review: Excel Volante SD330

Back to the review for a mo... Some more things I like about the boat: • Any handling compromises aside, the flat floor with sausage keel is great because the water gathers under it which makes for a less wet boating experience for those passengers who are more used to P&O... • The D ring on the bow...

Re: Review: Excel Volante SD330

Good lord... haha well at least it’ll provide me with a new project! So it’s just as likely I could be over pressurising the tubes with the manual pump as under inflating with the Sevylor... sounds like I should buy a standalone pressure gauge for a third reference. Any suggestions? The amazon offer...

Re: Review: Excel Volante SD330

Help me work this out then. I inflate the tubes using the Sevylor set to 3.6psi. Plug in the manual pump from Excel and the analogue gauge on that says 2psi if I’m lucky. Pump up the floor to 10PSI with the Sevylor. Manual pump says 8.5psi. Do I have a duff Sevylor or a duff manual pump? Or are they...

Review: Excel Volante SD330

A variety of SIBS & RIBS launching from Glenridding on Ullswater yesterday morning. Was tempted to organise a lineup photo shoot for comparison but I didn't want to ruin anyone's holiday! :waterski I'm sure we all had fun in our boats, we had lovely weather for it. Anyway... My decision process can ...
