That’s my setup... 275 and a Yamaha F6. It makes a great little rig and planes very nicely if you’re 1 up. The boat is still heavy but manageable - I lift mine in and out the back of a Landcruiser.

Re: Do I need launch wheels?
For the sake of making your life easier wherever you launch it, I’d put some transom wheels on. I don’t have a Honwave but from reading here, the Honwave wheels seem compromised and not popular. I put some Beachmaster type wheels on my Frib and they’re perfect.

Re: Honwave T38 - 6HP option?
That’s impressive performance for a sizeable air floor boat with a 6 on the back... for comparison my Frib 275 + Yam F6 will plane all day long with just me in, stick another adult in and no chance.

Re: Launching near Croyde Bay Devon.
I’m pretty sure there’s a public slip in the big car park on the front in Appledore. There’s probably more to be found on the Taw/Torridge. Otherwise, beach!

So is this all just a small tea cup with some light chop in it then?

Thanks for doing the test chaps, that’s useful info. Of the two I’d favour the Excel... I just wish it wasn’t black... it looks proper stealthy and all that, but really hot! Could our illustrious testers advise on tube temps next to naked Western flesh perhaps?

Re: F-Rib stands
I sat mine on the kids garden bean bags when fitting my Beachmaster type wheels. That allowed me to get it level and squish it down so the wheels could rest on the floor for lining up purposes (they’re heavy enough to be awkward doing everything single handed otherwise).

Re: Brixham
Nice! Used to keep a previous boat in the compound there at the top of the slip. It’s a much nicer and more relaxing place to put in than Torquay.

Re: A whole new world I didn't know existed
For 1 man and his dog purposes I’d look at the Frib 275 and a 4 stroke 6hp motor (mine is a Yamaha so that would be my recommendation). Both items are manageable single handed and will fit in the boot of most medium to large cars. Very quick and easy to set up and the 6hp motor will have you nipping...

Re: Launch wheels
I’ve got a pair of the Beachmaster copies (available on popular auction websites amongst others) on my Frib and they work superbly. The cost of importing the official items from NZ was eye watering. I got mine from here for £152 (they’re way down the page so keep scrolling...) http://www.angleseymar...
