Re: Old petrol
I know many will disagree but to be honest I'd just mix it with some fresh and burn it off

Re: Old petrol
Hi Andiac
I assume there's no 2 stroke oil in it but had you put any stabiliser in it before storing? If you did it should be fine to use in a car, even if you didn't it should probably still be OK if you put in up to say half a tank, the rest fresh. I did this with the spare petrol I had from last September about a month ago in my daughter's car and it was fine.
Otherwise see here - there's a link to put in your postcode to see if any other recycling centres within reach may take it:

Re: Old petrol
No unfortunately I didn't add any stabiliser as kept thinking I would get out on the water.. didn't happen, no oil added though, and as you may remember.... I had the tank valve closed most of the time.. The neighbours car is a 05 so maybe they could use it then if they mix with half a tank of fresh.
I'm not that mechanical so think I will just use fresh fuel for my two stroke outboard, need to fire it up this week to check over
Cheers

Re: Old petrol
I'm of the same school of thought as Martin. I usually use mine up in my motorbike tho. I tend to find the bigger the engine the less fussy it is with regards to old fuel. My little 2.5hp Suzuki is very fussy and only likes clean / fresh fuel.
Ive run my tohhatsu 20hp on half old half fresh with no issues. This year I've suscribed to the fuel stabiliser club.

Re: Old petrol
The old fuel if stored in an airtight container brimmed to the top should be okay...... but if it was a half full container you have real chances of condensation building up and adding water to the mix.......
Fuel stabiliser is the answer to this topped right up to the neck of the container. If you add fresh fuel it will not improve the old fuel but lessen the effects of stale fuel on the engine. It goes green amd gums up when left long enough exposed.
Id use it still but in parts with fresher fuel so say across 4 tank fulls.
Just my opinion but old fuel with water from condensation in it is bad news for outboards.

Re: Old petrol
I'm in the mix it with some fresh fuel and it'll be fine camp
If you're worried you could mix it 50/50 or a lesser proportion as Matt says

I would mix it 50 / 50 with fresh fuel and use it.
