Nice one Matt.
I'm sure she'll serve you well.
These Fribs are becoming ever more popular.
Soon they will out number the Sib owners on this forum - or maybe they do already???

I can't see the scratches too well on my phone, hopefully it's just General gel coat scuffs rather than damage?

Pretty sure these will be cosmetic scratches Matt.
I know Donny and Paul have posted up pictures of scuffs and scrapes on their Frib hulls.
They will be pretty much an inevitably.
That's why I don't like buying new - your always going to be miffed when you iscratch or ding you new shiny new car, boat, caravan , motorbike etc etc.
The beauty of buying used is someone else has taken a major hit in depreciation and you get a slightly used bargain without the major stresses of maintaining its perfection.

Hi Matt, I have done over 120 launches since this was taken. It still floats. A really great way to keep a boat scratch free is not to use it!

I hope you have as much fun with your F-RIB 330 as I have.

Douglas :)

Matt It looks like you have a bit of gel coat chipped off the hull in the keel line. I would get some gel coat repair paste into that to prevent water seeping into the GRP mat underneath. Using meths first to absorb any water, then using acetone to degrease the area is great preparation for a gel coat repair. It is likely the repair compound will be white rather than grey. You can get pigments but white patches will add character and attract curious dolphins.

Hi Matt I would not feel too annoyed...gel coat repair is cheap and easy. My friend lost three GRP sea kayaks off the roof rack of his WRX STi on an Irish motorway. They lost a bit more than gel coat on the tarmac but I helped him repair them and now you would hardly know.

This is the worst damaged one, after the repair. Along this side the hull was worn right through gel coat and GRP in two places and cracked right through in three places. At the end of the day, it is not really the boat itself that is important, much more important are the things you do with it, the experiences you have in it and share with like minded folk. You can't actually buy those things. You need to create them and the boat at the end of the day is just a tool.

Matt
Don't stress yourself mate ....... problem is these hulls are super glossy and scratch easy :(
Here's mine after about 6-8 months use being careful

scratches
I've since fitted some keel guard which has helped a lot :thumbsup
As Douglas rightly says, go use it, enjoy it, talk about your adventures and worry about the cosmetic damage when you sell it ;-)

PS :!: Dont go drilling out your brackets to 10mm as the pivot bush within the transom wheel arm won't be any good to you :!: .......pin needs to be 8mm ;-)
:cheers

Matt,

Whilst I agree with Paul that you shouldn't worry too much, I also agree with Douglas, it looks like some of that is down to the matting.
I would also get some gelcoat filler in there. Maybe ask FRIB HQ if they can provide the RAL code so you can get a good colour match (I seem to recall you are a bit OCD with this kind of thing, or I have the wrong person!
It's not a difficult job to fix it
