Re: May take the plunge.......again!
So quick update,
I collect the boat wednesday evening........or can have it dropped of to me but ill collect i think so i can guage space packed away.
Engine wise.........well had to go 2 smoke as weight is a biggggg factor.... i did not like the look of the yammy if im honest i has a fair bit of salt corrosion on the engine head gasket which indicates to me incorrect flushing.....also a bit of corrosion around the sparks etc. To be fair the engine had just come in so needed a service etc and cleaning up but not keen.....
So i settled on a 15hp 2 smoker mercury 2005 in very good external condition and internaly im used to it as its the same as aarons unit. It will be all serviced and ready to go saturday. Cost was more than i had hoped for tho at £1300. Does that sound reasonable gents? Seen alot of them for 995 or similar vut this one was in great nick.....
Test day will be sunday next week if anyone darn sarf needs a pre oban test day come along!

Re: May take the plunge.......again!
Congrats on your frib purchase matt..
The outboard does sound expensive to be honest, but smokers seem to be going for silly money these days.
I sold my 2007 DF15 (4 stroke) for £750, a little shabby to look at but it was as sweet as a nut.. Only 44kg for the silence & economical factors of a 4 stroke.

You PM'd me about the Twatsoo?
No point in discussing the price now, but it would have been around half what you paid for the Merc???

Re: May take the plunge.......again!
Just inflated at home and all inflating okay but the adaptor needs to be held on to the valves.....annoying think i was given the wrong size......
Now this boat is not brand new and has been used as FRibs demo but their are some scratches underneath i took some piks of. Are these anything to worry over gents or just par for the course?
Also what are these holes for? Im guessing they are drain holes or something????
On the drive inflated

Re: May take the plunge.......again!
Great stuff Matt.
I can't see the scratches too well on my phone, hopefully it's just General gel coat scuffs rather than damage?
We believe the holes are part of the mould process as they serve no function on the finished FRIB. Some have blocked them with earplugs whilst in use to stop water getting in.
I believe Donny keeps his sand hoppers in there to keep him company on long drawn camping expeditions
You mentioned the drops nose pins on previous post, did Paul or anyone reply by pm?
If not I'll measure them for you tomorrow as I should be home that evening.

Re: May take the plunge.......again!
Yes mate im being a tight wod a using the side under run bar retaining clevis pins on our trailer at work. Workshops are getting me 2. They are 10mm tho but may either drill the holes bigger or run em on the grinder. Im trying to do all this on a tight budget as were supposed to be saving for the narrow boat.......im on a purchase total of £2200 for the boat at present and she is giving me huffing noises......outboard to pay for at the weekend lol
