May take the plunge.......again!

Post by mattswan2512 » 05 Aug 2017, 19:10

Hi all,

So a little life update, me and the wiff are still hellbent on life aboard a narrowboat (widebeam) but as we are going new and they are pricy £80,000+ for an unfinished one we have a few years of saving to go as we cant find what we want on the used market and want to keep our house plus cruise for 6 months unfunded so all needs paying for 100k aprox i reckon

Now ive sold my grp beast which means 2-3 years land locked.......not happy with that!!! So im very much interested in getting.......AN F-RIB :thud :yay :yay :hugs the wife will go batty but i cant not have a craft all that time.......

Now i cant afford to buy new all again so if anyone comes across a used outfit pleeeease let me know. 330 min with 15hp.
Im not gunna mess around with sibs just want and F- Rib.

Matt
Sorry to hear you're having to put your plans on hold for a while :( but hey yeah it's best to wait and get the right boat to suit your needs, even if it's more costly ...... it's gunna be your home, so needs to be right  :thumbsup
It'll be great to have you back in the 'fold' mate ohyeh and I've already put out a search to find you a boat
Let's see what pops up ;-)
Might also be an idea to put a new topic in the wanted section mate
:cheers

Well done Matt. Hopefully you'll be setup for Scotland :-)

I'd be surprised if you find a good condition 2 smoker. The last 5 I've seen people buy have been shite (Even mine was)

Hi Matt, I have a 2.5, 6 and 15HP 4 strokes. The 15 is very heavy, too much for me to handle on my own, so I just use it off the beach where I mostly keep the F-Rib on a trolley with big balloon tyres. If I want to move it anywhere else on my own I would use the 6 or even the 2.5. The six will plane me at about 26km/hr. The 15 will cruise very happily at 30-35km with 2 adults and at 25-30km/hr with 3 adults. If I am on my own and if I remove things like the second seat and the anchor chain, it might even fleetingly hit 44km/hr.

Douglas
