And forgot to take my hat with me so had to make a makeshift hat out of one of those neck warmer / buff thingies

That looks great, the water looks so calm. Its hard to believe that we are in the middle of November. Looks quite a nice set up you have there Chris.
Nice hat by the way :clappy

Not my boat, just using it to teach PB2 and Intermediate powerboat courses.

It was close quarters manoeuvring this morning, and pontoon parking

Great images Chris, but how the hell can calm waters like that be deemed suitable for someone to get a PB2 qualification... You might aswell go and do it on a duckpond :rofl
So someone obtains their certificate on those calm waters and then tries to replicate a MOB or parking manoeuvre in the chop.. Surely there's no way they can be deemed as qualified, (Whatever qualified is)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do my PB2 at some point, but surely that isn't the way ?

Good question Martin. Rough water handling isn't in the syllabus for PB2 at all, that comes in at Intermediate level.

For coastal PB2 you don't need waves, just a tidal current (which you can always find) and hopefully some wind on one of the two days. PB2 is more about the boat handling skills in wind or tide or both, not handling choppy seas.

We have to work with the wind and sea state we are given on the two days, whether that's flat calm, or blowing a hoolie and big seas (in which case I'm desperately searching out the most sheltered spots I can for the whole course).
