I toyed with the idea of fitting a couple of balloon wheels to the back of my trailer.

My trailer is bunked anyway Andy, but the extra support sits directly under the centre of the transom
Likewise I had a roller to support the transom on a previous sib

Trailertek do loads of stuff to modify trailers to suit your needs and lots of other goodies too http://www.trailertek.com/?gclid=CLa9_t ... GwodIuIB7g

Excuse my ignorance I'm an new to and finding it very helpful. How does the roller support the transom. Is it for support or to make launching easier. As I may get one to fit. Thanx again.

John
On a majority of bunked trailers only the tubes are supported, the hull/keel isn't supported.
If transporting the boat with the outboard fitted to the transom the weight will cause the transom area to bounce up and down exerting load on the glued sections to the tubes/hull possibly causing premature failure.
By fitting a support, a roller to ease launching/retrieving, positioned directly below the transom in this load area will eliminate the bounce/loading.
The transom does move whilst underway on the water however the load is spread over a much larger area which isnt the case whilst trailering.
Hope this explanation makes sense :|

Very well explained thank you Paul. I'm tempted to remove middle and replace as you say with a roller support below transom. Alternatively perhaps try and put a roller on middle bunk???

If you're going to add a roller then the wider the better to add support over a wider area.
Companies like Trailertek http://www.trailertek.com do a variety of rollers to suit your needs http://www.trailertek.com/trailer-parts ... gs/rollers a 'V' roller like this for example http://www.trailertek.com/trailer-parts ... r-v-roller
