Hello from the far north.

Postby JohnD » Mon Oct 30, 2017 2:06 pm

Just saying hello everyone.

Recently bought a new Honwave T38 and 20 HP Honda OB. Not had chance to take it out yet, but have inflated it and run the engine in a tank (dustbin). Pleased to say all seems well so far. I'm based in the far north highlands, Caithness. There are many old harbours within easy reach of home. The boat is to support my three favourite pastimes:

1. Wild life photography https://www.flickr.com/photos/picturebothy/
2. Fishing
3. Wasting time on sunny days with a G+T, admiring the scenery from a beach.

I'm no expert on 1 and 2, but a genius on item 3.

That's all for now, I'm looking forwards a to good read on the forum. ;-)

Cheers - JohnD

Hi John and :welcome

Hope you enjoy your new T38 and outboard - we're enjoying ours!

I can tick all three of your interests, although looking at some of my recent photos (was going to post some from our adventures in the boat this year) - I realise I am rubbish at taking pictures and vids afloat! :shame Have been more successful fishing from the boat but less so from the harbour here. Always good at drinking G&T's / beers though!

Anyway, enjoy your adventures!

:cheers

Welcome to the forum JohnD from me too :welcome

Its a great place to hang out from an internet perspective...friendly and fun :D

You come from a lovely part of the country too. I know it reasonably well but not from a small boat. ..from foot or car only and try to re visit most years.

I have yet to work out how to get round the Merry Men of Mey or The Boar’s of Duncansby when they are sleeping and when Im in a wee inflatable.. but there will come a day...so perhaps I will ask your local knowledge in the future

You have some great photos on your site. I try to take photos too ..but this year discovered GoPro movies and got hooked big time. I spent a while in Caithness making clips for my summer movie. Here is a small sample .. hope it makes you feel at home .. recognise anyone ?

Hi John and :welcome to the forum

TBH I didn't have a clue where Caithness was  and yup! you're definitely far north :o
Took a look at your photos and there's some absolute belters there for sure 8-) thanks for sharing :thumbsup
Great boating setup you've got there and proving very popular on here, so you'll not go short on advice and help with any thoughts on modifications you may have planned to 'make it your own' :chat
Great to have you aboard
:cheers
I walked through the door marked 'EXIT' and life is now good!

Hi JohnD and :welcome.

Been round your part of the world a few times in our motorhome, not with the Honwave yet but maybe next time.

Look forward to hearing more about your adventures on the briny. Pictures/videos always welcome too.

Welcome aboard John.
The Honwave T3.8 is certainly gaining a fair following on here with a lot of new members joining up recently with T3.8's.
Very capable and stable boat that can shift along with a 20hp - I'm sure you'll love it.
Think the sit should be renamed Sibs and Fribs  :Boxsmile

I think that might be because this site is suggested when peeps google for advice on what Sib to buy and they are directed here. The advice and knowledge on this forum cemented my choice certainly. :IANW :IANW :IANW :clappy :cheers
