Honda bf 20 rattle

Post by Jakeyboy » 11 Sep 2017, 16:14

Hi guys ; my honda bf20 has 30 hours on it and from new has always had an annoying rattly sound above 3/4 throttle and at full chat ; tried all the usual things like holding gear change;tilt lever;mounting bolts ect but cannot put my finger on it ;had it run up on a tank by dealer early on and didnt seem to do it in tank but on my t38ie quite pronounced ;also tried taking launch wheels off as well;anybody else got same problem or any ideas ?

Hi Jake

I think I have a similar rattle (hate rattles). On mine, I think it's the rowlocks / oars that rattle. Or it could be the way I tie on the outboard. Hope you sorted your rattle out, but I guess if it's not the engine, then it's nothing too serious, more annoying...

Cheers

Steve

Hi steve;thats something ive not tried actually always assumed its the engine itself; hopefully get out in next day or two if weather allows.i have a short bit of stainless chain as a safety for engine but its not that ; I dont think its anything serious as its always done it just really annoying and a bit worrying

Oh actually there was one other thing I did - I tightened up the steering tension a touch (this is a bolt on my Suzuki). Think it was a little bit better last time I was out...

Hope I'm not misleading you here! Worth a check I guess...

:cheers
