Oct trip to Benderloch by Oban

Post by warder54 » 18 Sep 2018, 16:14

Hi all, Danny and myself are off on a trip next Month, staying at Tralee bay from 9th to the 13th (Tues - Sat)
We're taking my Smartwave as it's not been getting much use lately. Among other ideas, thinking of a run to Easdale and poss Fort William with a bit of fishing here and there.
The way the weather is going now I think it will be drysuit weather.
If windy we can always give Loch Etive a try.

Will be good to catch up with Paul again, even though he will be working.

Anyone free to join us on any day are welcome.
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

Well guys - we're here. Aaaaand - it's persisting down and quite windy!
Forecast is quite good for tomorrow. Hoping to go to Easdale, Balnahua and Tobermory if the weather holds out and time is not tight.

I'm sort of jealous, apart from the weather!
Hope it clears up for you so you can get out and enjoy a fabulous part of the country, especially for boating.
cheers
Roger

Update.
Wind is stronger than forecast and too strong by retrieve time this afternoon. Bugger!!
Plan B was Etive but that does not change the retrieve problem.
So Plan C is Loch Awe which is fairly sheltered in todays conditions, thankfully we packed our Pike gear because of Fridays forecast.

Not us Roger, Only arrived yesterday. We did however put on our big boy pants and passed over the Falls of Lora while in todays full flow! Pretty exhilarating, even the approach was "interesting" with my Smartwave 480 being pushed around a bit, lots of throttle and steering input required. We were airborne a couple of times. spent the rest of the afternoon cruising Etive and a short spell wetting a line while tied off to a large buoy.
danny is reviewing his pics and just noticed a drone overhead - hopefully taking a video of us going through. I we were too busy hanging on to take vids - and I forgot to take my Go-Pro and stabiliser :=( Going to search the "Tube" now to see if anything has been posted.
