Hello there!

Post by mrvygore » 05 Jul 2018, 20:33

Hi I saw yours & cjscamcorder's vids on youtube and bought a honwave 3.8 with a 20hp honda outboard.Been out a few times in Portsmouth harbour and it's great fun.I live in Gosport. I was / am totally inexperienced and didn't realise the engine was so heavy! I saw the vid about towing a tube down by old Harry and was thinking I'd like to do that too. How do I attach the rope to the boat tho?

Hi

Welcome, well the simplest way is to put 2 d-rings on the transom. attach a length of rope between the 2. then run a ring onto that and tow. I find it better cause it spreads the load evenly on the transom and you dont get that pulling to the one side effect.

Sounds like you got the Honwave bug like I have ! I too amd a newbie and have done the same as you - t38 plus 20hp. You get used to the OB weight and it gets easier. There are loads of tow bridles on fleabay if you dont fancy the DIY approach. Try this one - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 1399243642
Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard buddy..
The T38 is a cracking sib, pretty sure you’ll be smiling for a long time.
I never towed with mine, but as lsaid - plenty bridles about on the bay etc for a few quid.
Enjoy the forum
