Launch Wheels

Post by Angus » 27 Jun 2018, 09:31

I fitted launch wheels to my Honwave 4m, but the inflatable tyres soon perished and the valves corroded. Also the thin tyres would sink into gravel, sand or pebbles. I overcame this by removing the wheels with their inflatable tyres, and fitted solid plastic wheels with broad flat, solid rubber tyres as used on gardening equipment such as wheelbarrows - I got them from a garden centre for much cheapness. If you are having problems with your disproportionately-expensive launching wheels, you may want to try this yourself.

They sound like Sand Hopper wheels, have they got a positive or negative buoyancy?

Haven't a clue. I'll try to get a photo but my boat is miles away, don't hold your breath...

I suspect you're both referring to this type of wheel/tyre combo
