Now buying 330 and transducer question.

Post by Gilly65 » 14 Jun 2018, 16:25

Well after 18 months of looking and seeking good advice from everybody I have finally placed my order for a FRIb 330. After seeking all of your valuable advice on what engine to get, I have gone to my local dealers, tried carrying the engines and I have bought a 9.9 hp Yamaha. I was in such a dilemma as to buy a 6 hp or a 9.9hp as I wish to be portable. I have taken all your advice on board and I hope I will not regret buying a 6 hp.Only time will tell!!!!
My next question is how do you mount a transducer on the frib. Any ideas will be appreciated as I'm sure it will need to be raised before coming into the beach.
On e again thank you all for your previous advice.

Hi and congrats on your new purchase!

I have the 360, my transducer is fitted to a modified transom suction mount, so far it's stayed put at all speeds. Sorry not sure where I bought it or the brand.

I have the Raymarine pro 7 and the WiFish - basically the same units but the pro 7 has a screen and built in GPS plotter. They also have the same base mount and transducer, meaning I can just switch the head unit between boats!!

Various ways to mount, it can be bolted straight onto the transom, fitted to a pole and G clamp, even strapped to the tube, a lot depends on the type of transducer.

Well done on getting the boat
I am sure it will go fine with a 9.9HP on the back.
