The Forum

Post by Admin1 » 05 Jul 2015, 21:21

It’s been 18 months since we started the forum guys & girls.
Well done & a huge ThankYou to all whom have participated and got the forum where and how it is today.
As you may well know, we set this up with very little knowledge of I.T, and in 10 months time we’ve learned lots, met some cracking folk and progressed into the unknown element of the World Wide Web.

Activity is a little low at the moment, expected due to the holiday period. If there’s anything we can do to the forum to maintain its quality and longevity, please suggest it… No question or request will be ignored, it’s a forum for its members, and that’s the way we hope it stays.

You’ll notice we don’t have the annoyance of spam, adverts etc from Google ad words and alike, these we find are a pain in the backside… although they do provide revenue; it’s not a route we want to take.
The way we can avoid spam adverts and continue with the forum, is to obtain some outside sponsorship from manufacturers and retail outlets, Well we're happy to announce we now have 2 sponsors on-board :party

An Active Forum Is A Healthy Forum, Longevity is the our aim. So if you can help in anyway by linking to us, Liking our social media pages, Giving a thumbs up on YouTube video’s or even commenting on our channel video’s, that all helps push us up the web search engine rankings.

Hopefully anyone away with their boats will be taking videos and pictures that they can share with fellow members??
We can link all these and tie them in with social media sites, again - Our visibility will improve and more members should hopefully join.

Kind Regards,
The Team :TY

I gave up on Facebook a year or so back - too many cute pussies and Jesus pushers!

However, I do still do the Tweets a bit so have followed and reTweeted a couple :chat
cheers

Its going pretty well guys, and on behalf of the team.. Thanks for your support... each and every one of you !! :cheers

We're now at 233 members of this evening, Thankfully over a 50% of you are active members & posters :party :party

As we step into the busier boating period, we should see a few more members joining us. I/We would greatly appreciate you all saying "Hello" to the new members as they first post. Make them feel welcome .
I think if i joined somewhere and nobody said "Hello" after my introduction, I'd be a little inclined to avoid the site... So if you see a :I'm New , please take two minutes to welcome them.

Cracking Job Guys !!!!
Thanks again for your continued support :TY :Hats

I think people are missing the new members...
Do you all use the Board index http://www.f-ribsandsibs.com/index.php
Or
The Portal http://f-ribsandsibs.com/

On the board index you will see "View Active Topics"
If you click that, you should see a\t least 10 active topics per page, many times there are two pages for viewing.

Saying :welcome to all new members helps us keep the forum active, and friendly.
More people are likely to join if we show a little interest :whistle

I did a google search for 'Inflatable Boat SIB forum' and this site was No. 2 in that list. Then did a search for just 'Inflatable Boat' and nothing was there. When first owning an inflatable, I didn't know the term SIB right away. Not sure if others were the same.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

Yeh, to be honest the seo (search engine optimisation) is a pain in the arse to say the least.
We try and do what we can but our software is not the best for seo or mobilisation.

The seo will improve in time as more posts get indexed. We submit a new site map quite regularly too which also helps.

Thanks for the feedback, it really does help

Oh, I think we all realize you guys are working hard. Just thought it was interesting how SIB pulled it up but 'Inflatable Boat' did not. Oh well, it will get there.

Don't think I've ever said it but I think you guys are doing an outstanding job!!

BTW - Checked back in and found it interesting that the forum I use to chime in on is now down to about one guy posting to himself. I'm not joking. Pathetic. Goes to show what happens when you don't respect the members and what you guys are doing right.
