Food for thought ...... the Suzuki 20efi actually weighs in at 44kg and if I recall the very latest Tohatsu 20efi reportedly weighs in at 43kg
I'd agree with your estimated performance figures of around 20mph with a 10hp :thumbsup my 2014 Tohatsu 20hp at WOT gives me 28mph average and best achieved was 32mph however its not all about speed, I've a 20hp to tow toys and carry 4-5 adults on the odd occasion
:cheers

Cheers Paul the 20hp seems a good idea, and it's got me thinking, i've got the latest Tohatsu brochure which quotes 52 kg for the lightest version. My heart says yes my head says no and the grand difference in price is weighing against at the moment :scratch

Hi Cliff, cracking buy, great looking RIB. Not sure it's what you're looking for but I have a great Mariner 15 (2006) in great shape, certainly fits your weight requirement. Paul saw it in use at Etive last May when we were out with Donny (Gurnard) - who was impressed with how we kept up with him 2 up on the f-rib 360. Not in a great rush to sell as I might use it on my Honwave T38ie next month for a run out with a mate in company. If interested send me a pm, not looking for silly money.

I think you're getting the specs of 52kg for my OB the MFS20C which is the outgoing model, with the C denoting carburettor model.
The new model is the MFS20E, with the E denoting electronic fuel injection.
I've been back onto the Tohatsu website http://www.tohatsu.co.uk/outboard-engine-m-20hp.html and yup the MFS20E S (short shaft/tiller control) definitely weighs in at 43kg ;-)

Tohatsu MFS20E
RRP is £2640 but a very quick shop around get you one for £2386 http://www.rib-shop.com/tohatsu-outboard-sales/
Get your wallet out mate :!:

Cheers for the offer Mike, but I'm looking at a new 4 stroke. (at this point in time - but things do change depending on what shit is heading towards my fan at the moment) :thumbsup

Looks like I'm wrong again :Confused, that beauty would be the Bees Knees on the Highfield. Certainly got my heart pumping, and I think I deserve it. Thanks for pointing it out. Just need to convince myself and significant other. :cheers

I've just fitted my new Tohatsu 20 efi to my f-rib today, hopefully getting out for a couple of hours running in next week, unbelievably quiet running and an easy starter. Would be a great match for the new RIB - New Year = new motor!!

Cheers Mike, is that the MFS 20e? Wouldn't mind coming up to Scotland some time this year, maybe meet up for a run out. Cliff

Not a problem Cliff, need a bit of notice though as we Pick up our new caravan on the 24th and plan on getting away quite a bit this year to make up for years of not getting away together. I'm East coast, Montrose. Some nice trips to do up here: Calm day - out to the Bell Rock lighthouse (12 mile out so an "in company" run out) reasonable weather: North or South with nice cliffs and a few beaches only accessible from the Sea. Great Chippie in Gourdon Harbour or a longer run to Caterline or Stonehaven with a good weather window. Another option is a Run up the Tay from Broughty Ferry to Perth.
