New from tyneside

Post by Bigcod31 » 05 Sep 2017, 20:16

Hi from tyneside.
Been reading this great forum for a while trying to gather as much info as possible before hopefully getting into rib / sib boating.
I have sea fished for 40 years boat, shore and last 9 years kayak fishing mainly around the north east coast and mull of galloway using a kazkazi dorado and a fatyak.
I must admit when looking into getting my first kayak i had such a buz inside, this is the way i am starting to feel about starting sib/rib fishing.
I am thinking small honwave but hopefully going down the route of a f-rib 2.75, will definitely not be using a trailer but will opt for transom wheels of some sort but some of the launching sites i have in mind involve some soft sand before reaching the firm.
So thats about it for now, i will continue to read and learn from ribs and sibs and hopefully not to long will have my own
:cheers
Pete

Hi paul
Thanks for the reply, noticed you have a honwave do you trail it or use transom wheels to launch ? That's probably about maximum size sib i think i would require as all my launches form the area would be transom wheeled and will need to keep the weight down.

Hi Pete. I trailer the sib around, but use launching wheels to launch it so the triller never get put into the sea, reason being I live right by the coast and it's handy having the sib ready inflated if I fancy a quick runout

I even on short road runs leave the outboard on the transom with a strap wrapped around the leg onto the trailer to stop it bouncing

Hi pete and :welcome to our great forum, I have a honwave t40ae with a aluminium floor I fold it up into a bag and it goes into my car very easy the launch wheels make life better too,
Tthe only problem is the weight my wife wanted a solid floor but I was thinking of the t38ae which is a inflatable floor but probably half the weight, :thud

Thanks for the info pugwash.
Will definitely be the v airfloor or an f-rib at the moment.
Where i live they charge for every slip access so thinking more of the transom wheels for beach launching
