hi from cornwall

Post by Tellum » 30 May 2017, 20:50

hi just bought a hon-wave 3.8 with Honda 20hp to get back on the water. Used to have a couple of boats 25 year ago for fishing etc . The urge to get back on the water came about 5 year ago . Started with kayaks then Canadian canoes then back to kayaks, but it was something bigger and faster i was craving. So hopefully going to get some nice weather and have some fun this year, with a view to maybe go up in size to a rib in a couple of years or so ,no more then 15.5 foot though no room for anything else. I went for the t3.8 air floor first because I though it would be a nice size outfit to get back into it and will be capable to take wife and daugher for some river trips, it will also be handy to throw in the caravan . Will be out mostly from fowey ,tamar or around looe, with a lot of time in the rivers only live 6 miles from looe. Contemplating doing the level 2 power boat course, anyone recommend one local? cheers

:welcome aboard Tellum :wavey

As a former Honwave owner - congratulations on your superb purchase, I very much doubt you'll be disappointed.
The T38 is superb, just watch the floor pressure once it's been sat in the water, that small pressure drop makes one hell of a difference.

As Paul has said, we're blessed with a superb bunch of members on here, everyone willing to share knowledge/tips & tricks.
Enjoy the forum and more so ... enjoy your new toy

Hi Tellum and :welcome to the forum from a fellow Honwaver. :thumbsup

Look forward to hearing more about your adventures on the water.

Been looking at possible campsites in your neck of the woods to stay in our motorhome and launch from - any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

:cheers

Hello and :welcome Tellum

I'm pretty new to SIBs, having upgraded from inflatable kayaks. I've got a new T38 and Suzuki 20, which has just gone past the 10 hour run in marker.

We've enjoyed the Honwave so far, but we're still learning and tweaking as we go. Had a few adventures on the sea, but looking forward to heading out to some of the lochs...

I did the RYA powerboat handling 1 and 2courses some years ago. Think it's worthwhile... Going to do a VHF radio course on Friday at our local RNLI station, which I am hoping will be useful too.

Have fun in the T38! :thumbsup

Cheers

Steve

thank-you all for the welcome. Steve,i done the vhf /dsc radio course 4 yr ago when i was fishing from my kayak well worth doing. As for campsites roger black one that springs to mind is Penmarlem, Boddinick , no club or function room pretty quiet area with access to there slipway into the river fowey . Quiet trips up the river to golant, loswithiel, or lerryn for a pint at the ship inn, across the river to fowey,or out to sea for a blast. check their web site out.
cheers
