Sussex Kingsmere Reef - WOW

Post by acidcloud » 09 Jun 2018, 19:38

Mat and I took a trip to Kingsmere reef in the T38 today and wow great fishing.

Launched from beach slipway at Goring near Worthing.
Car parking and slipway is off Marine Cresent and used the Beach Huts car park, says only 4 hours but ists a sleepy place and locals say nobody ever checks.
There no motor vehicle access to Slipway but for us SIB users with transom wheels no problem.
Ste up boat and gear next to car in the car park and wheeled the whole rig down the path across the low sea defences and down wooden slipway.
There is some shingle on the slipway but locals say this is normally cleared in the summer, guess they have been waiting for it to start this year.
No problem because I had a MAT ( my son who does all my heavy lifting) , after shingle is hard sand which is a pleasure.

From Goring its about 4 miles out to Kingsmere Reef, which is the UKs best place for Black Bream, in fact its a marine sanctuary that has fishable areas.
So pictures will folow but the day started with a couple of 2lb plus wrassse, Mat had a small conger and we took home 4 Black Bream largest just under 2lbs before cleaning.
Oh and lots of pouting.

Unfortunately the weather and seas kicked up late afternoon and we decided to head back as it was first time using Goring Launch.
The T38 is brilliant in copy sea we had waves peaking over 1m but the T38 doesnt care.

Cant wait for our next outing to Kingsmere. Ohh and guess whats on the menu tonight.

Only saw larger charter fishing boats and a few private expensive jobs.
No one at the cheap end like us.

used to have a caravan , wife made me sell it, so bought a boat.

Well done on the fish, you'll have to take Paul out with you sometime to show him how to catch them.

Saw recopies for Wrasse but never tried them, we caught 3 wrasse all over 1lb but put them back.
As for catching at Kingsmere the big Black Bream caught them selves sending the reels singing and pulling over the rod tips.
Now thats a sound we like.

It would be great to get a group of forum members together who like fishing, plenty of room at Gorring Beach ramp car park and many hands make light work up and down the beach.

Actually Acid I was half expecting to see you at Shoreham Harbour on Sunday as it was I was the only boat launching in what were perfect conditions.
I'm not really a Hobbit, just look like one. Real name is "Andy".

Andy,

Had the same thought, but I am working full time and initially Saturday looked better than Sunday, and I need to spend some time with family. but normally were out at Shoreham, but Goring was quite easy too.
