honwave 320 outboard hp

Post by pedro916 » 03 Dec 2017, 19:13

Just a quick question to honwave 320 v air floor users, will a 10 hp Honda or Suzuki get me on the plane or will it be a struggle that's one up and two up?

My 9.8 Tohatsu 2s (weight 27kg) gets two people up on the plane fine. A Honda or Suzuki 4 stroke will do the job, but a 15hp will be quicker.

As Chris states a 10hp will do the job, I run a 15hp Suzuki on my 3.2 Honwave and it goes like stink :drive

That's sounds good as most of the time it will just be me, the weight being an issue with the bigger outboard.

Not sure on all makes but the Suzuki df9.9is the same weight as the 15hp , so check on weights before you buy :thumbsup

I agree, check the weights. If the 15hp in your chosen model is the same weight as the 10hp, it makes sense to get the 15. But if the 15 is a lot heavier that the 10 it makes more sense to go with the more manageable engine weight wise.

I used to run a 9hp 2 smoke on my honwave t38, it wasn’t the fastest but it popped on the plane 2 up no problem.
I now run a 20hp 4 stroke Suzuki, the 9.9hp, 15hp & 20hp susukis are all 42-44kg :thumbsup

The merc/mariner 9.9hp 4strokes of the mid 2000's weight 38kgs
Unfortunately they are at the top of their hp range and share parts with the 8hp.
The 15hp is heavier.
