UNDERSTANDING OUR PRIVACY POLICY

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you more control over your personal information and how it is used.
You may alter your personal information within the "USER CONTROL PANEL"

  • WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU ?
Where we/the forum software have collected information directly from you it will usually be obvious what this is - as you will have given it to us. This might not be the case where we have used cookies to collect information from your computer or portable electronic devices. Please see our cookies policy for more information.
We collect and use the information given to offer a greater forum experience for you the end user.
Your email, username, password and i.p address are collected upon registration of the forum for your security, These details are held securely on our service providers servers ... This will be explained further down the list.
Any further information given such as location, mmsi number or boat/outboard configuration is entirely at your descretion and should only be entered within the "User Control Panel" if you are happy to share this information.

  • WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU, AND WHY ?
Your email is collected by the forum software to identify you and allow the administrators to contact you directly.
Your email is not on display for the public to see, we use our forum internal email software to send messages via email on your behalf. This keeps your email address safe from spam and nuisancence trolls.
The i.p address is also collected to assist in identification/location of a user. Think of it as another form of security, Where as the forum software reconises your username and ip address to verify you along with your password.
The password you register with is stored on the forum software server at our hosting company. We do not have access to your password but we can provide a reset should you forget/loose your sign in details.
  • DO WE SHARE ANY INFORMTION WE COLLECT ?
Private information, Absolutely Not !!!
We/The forum administration do not, have not and never will offer any of your private information to any third party company/person etc. We value your privacy as much as you do.
Obviously any information you offer on an open forum is out of our hands, Please think twice before offering your telephonre number, email address or such.
Should you require any personal information removing from a page, please advise the Admin team and we will assist in removing the details you require.

Public information is the information you have offered within your profile. You have the capability to edit or remove this in your "User Control panel"
Forum posts are also public information, These posts are open to view for any internet user.. Again, should you require specific posts removing, please contact the administration team. We are here to help !
  • HOW LONG MAY WE KEEP THE SUPPLIED INFORMATION ?
We are only allowed to keep your personal information if we need it for one of the reasons we describe in the sections above.

As a general rule, we will keep it for 6 years from the end of your relationship with us.
Should you wish to leave the forum, your posts will not be deleted but your UserName will be changed to something none related to you. Standard forum name change would be "USER 1" etc etc..

We will also retain data in an anonymous form for statistical and analytical purposes, for example:- to assist us with viewing/usage data of the forum by age/location/sex and interest.
Analytics provide a clear view of who's viewing which catagory or what style device they are viewing it on (desktop/tab/mobile device)

  • KEEPING YOUR PERSONAL DATA SAFE
Your personal data is stored on our service providers secure servers. ** NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS HELD BY ADMINISTATORS OR STORED ON THEIR COMPUTERS/DEVICES **
Your email address and password help us to protect your personal information.

You must keep this password safe and must not disclose it to anyone.

You need your username and password to login to our web site/forum.

F-RibsAndSibs.com will accept no responsibility or liability if a third-party obtains and uses your email address and/or password.

You must tell us immediately if you have lost your password, or if you believe a third-party may have obtained it.

You may change your password through the"USER CONTROL PANEL section of the forum/website.
