Mobile friendly skin

Post by blootac » 02 Mar 2015, 13:52

A mobile friendly skin would be good for those of us who browse by mobile device. They are easy to install into phpbb, are plentiful in number and free-(being the operative word)-ly availability

Hi, and thanks for your suggestion Blootac.
As we run a modified skin on F-RibsAndSibs.Com , we need to be sure that all updates will blend within our forum, Myself and Admin2 spent a lot of time modifying the forum headers etc to fit all screen sizes available to us, desktop/notebooks/smartphones and tablets. We thought we'd got it suitable for all platforms, Can I ask which mobile device your using, as we've tested it on iOS, Android and thought it was ok.... :shame
Something like taptalk may be available to us if that's what your thinking of?
OR, if you've anything in particular in mind, pop me a PM and we'll certainly take a look into it for you. :chat

Once again, Thankyou for your suggestions guys, Please feel free to keep them coming :cheers

Don't get me wrong, it looks and works great as it is and you've done a great job!
:Hats

I use android (samsung galaxy s5 with Chrome and opera) and IOS (IPad with Chrome and opera).
It's primarily that the page is too small to comfortably read at 100% on a mobile screen so you end up having to zoom in and then scrolling to read the posts.
Screenshots attached in the next post.

Maybe I'm just being fussy and everyone else is happy!
:D

In fact looking at it now the posts page is ok, it's the board, threads and create a post pages that i have to zoom in on.

:bust IT I use my phone a lot too Bloo during the day, if I'm away from home overnight working then I tend to tether the iPad, it can be a little frustrating having to zoom in I suppose, but that's just our lazy side coming out lol,
If I was to do an in depth post, I'd certainly wait until I got home and do it on the desktop.
In general I find the colours and layout more than acceptable when viewing the main sites on mobile devices, it's far easier than that horrible tap talk app :no
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle
Because it's a big old WWworld out there

Well us software engineers are renowned for our lazyness afterall! :geek:
I agree it's a very minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.
