Folding trailer

Post by James » 21 Oct 2015, 21:22

Hi

I have a folding rib. I'm fitting a towbar to the Navara, mainly for a bike rack.

I've seen you can get folding boat trailers. Are they any good?
I can't store a full sized trailer.

James

I think it was this folding trailer that Philpot was talking about on another thread but might be wrong http://www.leisure-trailer.co.uk/index.htm :Link
Maybe do a forum thread search ;-) as I seem to remember other versions :|

I looked in to that one and got a quote.

They wanted

LT4000 Boat roller system £1000
Spare Wheel £30
Spare wheel bracket £10
Hitch Lock £30
Tie Down Straps x3 £25
Winch £30
Winch Post £40
Card Payment £30

Approx £1,186

I know it's foldable so the price goes up, but the trailer isn't even a patch on pauls one.
I'd expect to pay closer to the £800 mark considering standard trailers are that and look a lot better. Don't get wrong, it looks good but due to not a lot of competition I guess they can up their premiums a little :pump

I'll do a search tomorrow and see what I find on this forum.

Nice trailers those Bulldogs, we were talking about this some time ago.
I intend getting a folding launch trolley for now, and strengthening it slightly to enable me to tow on slightly rougher ground through campsites etc. Last year at blackrock sands was hard work, inflate-deflate, inflate-deflate... :no
But need to be able to pack it away at the end of the caravan holiday. Hence sticking with sibs/f-ribs and the folding trolley idea.
A launch trolley will save a whole load of hassle next year up Oban too (Hopefully) :thud
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle
Because it's a big old WWworld out there

I've been eye'ing up the 25HP 4 stoke engines. I can't afford one yet :thud and I'd need a trailer first, so maybe in about 2 year times :thud

The trailers shown and posted are very cool. I would have loved to be able to get one. Did you ever find what you are looking for? I've taken a folding utility trailer and converted it for use as our boat and bike trailer. I built it so it can be taken apart and folded relatively quickly. Minus my time, labor and licensing, cost me about $400 US in materials.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.
