New boat has arrived! Yey!

Post by ChrisParish » 09 Jul 2018, 21:57

Got the magic phone call from Dave at Golden Arrow today - my boat had arrived and was waiting for me to collect it. :yay

So off to port Solent to get it. There was some consern that it would not fit in my tiny Yaris but I had measured up and figured that it should fit with just a few cm to spare. It did. (Not entirely sure how I am going to fit the engine in as well, but i’ll jump off that bridge when I get there.)

Got it home and set about inflating it. Sent a couple of pics to Martin to confirm that the keel was straight. It looks a bit squiffy on the inside because the tape between the two halves is not applied quite right. However the keel is dead straight and pretty even from left to right so I am happy.

The boat fills my tiny garden! It blew my mind just how much bigger it is than my old Zodiac 310

Fitted the Air Rib wheels from Pacer Marine. Very nice and went on easily.

Used some matting from Aldi to create a cover for the floor - it looks lovely, just need to see how it performs.

Finally, added a Railblaza Sideport to the transom for my rod holder.

I cannot wait to get it out on the water. Planning on a maiden voyage tomorrow afternoon.

It is just the picture. It has one hell of a vee to it! When I took that picture I was trying to get straight view along the keel.

Yup! On the prowl for a 20hp engine. Anyone fancy swapping a 9.9 for a 20? 🤣

Brilliant Chris and looking good. Love the missus sitting drinking beer whilst you graft :rofl

This is only a personal preference and would depend on where you inflate it but I personally blow up the high pressure floor first as there is less chance of it getting punctured with 0.85 bar in it and that lifts the rest of the boat off the ground too. There isn't a right or wrong way but thought I would mention it for your consideration. Congrats on your purchase, they are great boats and very capable. There is nothing wrong with the V floor, I saw it raise the boat as it should on inflation. Enjoy and may well catch you on a meet somewhere as we are both of the Southern Clan. :cheers :thumbsup
