Re: Engine performance

Hi Martin, I was 15stone 4lbs when I got the F-Rib in April 2016 but am now 11 stone 4lbs due to a progressive medical problem. The Gurnard has also put on weight over the same period due to another medical problem. I did keep a note of my weight at the times when I did each of the speed tests. Scre...

Re: Engine performance

Hi Gilly, first of all I have been 15 stone for most of the time I have had the F-Rib 330 and The Gurnard is heavier than I am. I have 3 engines for my F-RIB 330 Suzuki 2.5, Yamaha 6 and Yamaha 15 and have also tried my friends 9.9 so I have no particular axe to grind regarding what size is "best". ...

Re: Engine performance

Hi Gilly, I am back home now and got my notes. My F-Rib 330 with 2 adults weighing a total of 150kg powered by a Suzuki DF9.9A managed a top speed of 24.5km/hr. With one adult weighing 75kg it managed 33km/hr. It was slack water with almost no wind but the water was not glassy calm, there were small...

Re: Engine performance

Hi Gilly, I agree with Matt the F-Rib flies with a 15. However, unless you use it on flat water in a sheltered harbour or a lake it is a very painful ride even at half throttle. Even The Gurnard has begged me to slow down when we have been out two up in the F-rib 330/15! Occasional boaters are even ...

Re: Engine performance

Hi Gilly I am away up north on a trip just now. I did try a friend's Suzuki DF9.9A on my F-Rib 330. It planed no bother two up, I made a note of the speed and I will post that when I get back. My Yamaha F6C will plane a 15 stone adult no bother but will not plane two adults. However, the whole point...

Re: F- Rib Inflation problem

Hi Paul, I had a similar problem with my electric pump so I swapped the connector end from the F-Rib foot pump onto the electric pump hose and that fixed it. I was later able to buy a couple of the right connectors so that I have a hand pump, foot pump and electric pump that all now fit. Have fun, D...

Cracking stuff Gurnard. You are right it got a wee bit nippy as the sun started to go down. But it was much warmer than the freezing fog Phil David and I experienced on our previous trip. Looking forward to the castle bit :)

Re: Throwbag / throwline

My neighbour at Fleet Bay has a small SIB/9.9 combination. He is a lurker here but has sent me two photos of me rescuing someone who fell out of a RIB on the 26/7/17. He was 17 and it was his father's RIB. He had been driving it alone at top speed doing big circles and jumping across his wake at rig...

Re: Upgrading Suzuki 15hp to 20hp

Here is why my F-Rib 330 and Yamaha F15C would not go any faster by upping the power unless I also changed the prop to one with a greater pitch or diameter. Screen Shot 2018-02-23 at 07.24.30.png On what was possibly the one glassy calm day last summer I did some speed tests using my Garmin GPS. I m...

Re: Upgrading Suzuki 15hp to 20h

Hi Duggie, I run a Yamaha F15C on my F-Rib 330. This is the same powerhead as the F20C so potentially I could upgrade it. However as the 330 is small and easily driven, at WOT the F15C reaches max revs which are the same max revs as for the F20C. So the 20 with the standard prop on my boat would not...
